ROP: Situation on Numenor

Naturally, ROP cannot follow anything in The Silmarillion or UT that is not in The Hobbit or LOTR, due to not having the rights. And even what they have in those two - they make changes to turn it into a TV show.

I think the story takes place about 1000 years into the Second Age (I believe something was said to that effect) - but that only 5-10 years remains - either of the Second Age, or to the point when Numenor falls. Just because we probably have about that many seasons.

In Numenor - Ar-Pharazon is just Pharazon, and he is an advisor or counselor to Queen Regent Miriel - I didn't notice the "Regent" part at first. Tar-Palantir is still alive - removed from the throne, spending his time in a tower (perhaps the person we saw in the tower with the flame on top - as Elendil's ship entered the harbor at Numenor). He was too "out of step" with the equivalent of the "King's Men" - who are a bit more extreme than in the books, I think. There is no mention that Pharazon is a nephew of Tar-Palantir - but no indication that he is otherwise.

Miriel appears to be in line with the King's Men way of thinking - but this is to hide the truth. She appears to meet with her father at the end of episode 3. Also, from her final words, we have indications that Tar-Palantir indeed has some ability to look into the future.

So I suspect that - in Numenor's near future we will see:
* Tar-Palantir die, and Miriel (briefly) become Ruling Queen.
* Pharazon forcing Miriel into a marriage with him, and taking the throne to himself as Ar-Pharazon (possibly due to exposing her as a member of The Faithful).
* Numenor eventually take up arms to assist the Elves against Sauron (as they did in the middle of the Second Age).
* Numenor bring Sauron back to their island home in chains after winning this war.
* Sauron spreading further corruption there, the open Rebellion and the Armada sailing to Aman.
* The Fall of Numenor and the flight of the Exiles, the establishment of Arnor and Gondor.

One more thing regarding Miriel. She says something regarding the Elves - since the time of her grandfather's great-grandfather. That would have been AR-Adunakhor, the first to take his name in Adunaic. So that makes sense.
