Well ive just read the Manson biography "The Long Hard Road out of Hell" again and it was related to this. Basically it was that if Manson sang Rock N Roll Nigger at a concert in Toronto he would be arrested for creating racial disharmony or something, and i was just curious whether this was a legal thing or whether it was the venue management having a whinge.

I don't think we have a law against stirring up crap, but I could be wrong. A venue could say we don't want you to play here for whatever reason, since it is their property though.

Yeah i dont have the book on hand but im pretty sure it wasnt about the venue management, i know they can stop a band performing at their venue but i dont think they could have him arrested because of the word nigger unless it was against the law. The police who warned him said that he just wanted to stir up trouble by playing a song called Rock n Roll Nigger and they didnt know it was a Patti Smith song

It's not illegal to call someone a n*****, but it's also not illegal to tell that person to f*** off. Freedom of speech cuts both ways baby.

Speaking of freedom speech and swearing, how come we can say n***** but we can't say f***? N***** is worse IMO.

I think nigger is the way it is used in context though. The word jew can have the same meaning as nigger if it's used by a neo-nazi or a white supremecist. Should the word jew be outlawed?

It made me think that I'm glad to live in a country where people have the right to speak for themselves, esp. in our trial system, where hearsay, and people saying what they think other people think, are NOT accepted as evidence.
