Um I think the phrase should be"Someday I'm going to live in NEW ZEALAND!" Australias a favorite country but I think I'd rather live in England,Ireland,Scotland or of course New Zealand. England because I know the accent and just because, Ireland because it's green and I can live by the sea, Scotland because I kind of know the accent and just because,New Zealand because LOTR was filmed there, there's alot of virgin territory, and I could live by the sea and just because

NewZealand does look like a nice place to live (Ireland and Scotland look nice too..not so crazy about England tho. No offense meant to the brits here). I love it especially because its so green and open and the population is so small (I'm talking in people, not sheep) I've added an art college thats there to my list of colleges I might want to go to.
Australia on the other hand...well...its so HOT and DRY there and theres soooooooo many deadly things there (spiders, snakes, crocs, psyco guys named Steve Irwin ect)...icky.

(Reads Samwise's post)
That's all right, then! *sheaths sword and helps them up* About the accents, a TRUE (i.e. well-spoken) Englishman is always a delight to listen to... *tips hat* No offense taken.

So not cockney twat accents then?
If you want to hear the loathed voice of supposedly 'common' England - hunt down some audio clips of the chef Jamie Oliver. Hero of middle-aged housewives everywhere - hated by the rest of the country with a passion |

How can I be expected to speak for the ill-educated peasantry of England? We of noble blood can't be answerable for them
Indeed, death to Jamie Oliver...pistols at dawn I say.. Anyway Why do you hate the English, Gerbil? You haven't answered.

I like a forms of English Gerbil. Cockney and Scottish ESPECIALLY!
Yeah Australia is AWFUL hot and it seems that most of the animals there are either REALY bad tempered or poisonous. Koalas are REALLY fiesty if disturbed and they smell too and even Platypuses are poisonous. The males have a spur on their back feet. And then there are the Tapins(a type of snake),Tiger snakes, these really poisonous blueish black snakes,Death Adders (which have a nasty habit of hiding in LEAVES)and not to meantion the Funnel Web Spiders on LAND. Then there are the Sea Wasps,Salt Water Crocs, Scorpion Fish,Zebra Fish AND Great White Sharks in the Ocean. But I warrant it'd be not that populated in the middle of the desert, or outback considering all the dangerous critters thatre runnin' around. Sam

Eh? Sorry - not been following threads as well as I should - a lot of work on right now.
Why do I hate the English? Because I live here Seriously though - the people are generally dull, rude and selfish. Going abroad I was always like 'wow! everyone is so friendly here - what weirdos!'. Gradually I realised nearly everywhere was like this. Everywhere except England. Eventually putting 2 and 2 together I realised in fact the UK is the weird place and everywhere else is 'normal' And foreign women are just so much more attractive! And most countries don't delude themselves they are still a world power XX number of years after our empire disintigrated... I like living here though because I know it's weaknesses. That and we have no poisonous critters to speak of Also - I like being called racist against the English - people rarely bother to find out first I AM English! |

That's funny. I always thought most people here were dull, rude, selfish, and annoying at that.
And QUIT DISSIN' AUSTRALIA!! (Sam . . . )

It's truly amazing,
1) that this thread is still going, 2) that Gerbil has managed to insult every lifeform extant and is still typing. Note: Elijah is totally cool, highly intelligent, and is smiling his cute smile all the way to the bank . . . as he should. He is neither an American nor a British type, so he may look weird to some . . .we can't all be Gerbils. I remember Scotland chiefly because a shopkeeper asked me if in America, they really give you paper bags to carry your groceries in. (I asked him for a bag for my six potatoes.) Also for Loch Ness which was creepy. |

Anyway, you'll actually note I reserve most of my vitriol for the English - which being English is my right. Quote:
Besides, my original point was not that he looks weird because he's not English, just that he looks a bit weird period. |

Interesting, Gerbil!
So, in one sentence you've managed to call ME, PERSONALLY, dull, rude, selfish (alas you've got me on that one) and weird. AND I see no apology...hmm... Where, apart from your obvious narrow-mindedness, is your sense of patriotism? Does England mean nothing to anyone but to be America's lapdog for when they need our soldiers (which ARE the best in the world, SAS)? It is insulting to my national pride to see you, Gerbil, someone who lives in England (Note I am not calling you an Englishman) "dissing" England.

Patriotism does not mean blindess - to a country's faults.
I love England for many things. I also dislike it for many other reasons. Take, for example, our views on Europe. Or our general racism (pretty much goes hand in hand with the first point!). Or things like hooliganism etc. As a country we also treat animals worse than pretty much anywhere else in world. However, if it's any consolation - I'm pro royal family with a vengeance There's pros and cons. I'm patriotic - insofar as if we were at war against another nation for a VALID reason I'd fight. But patriotism seems to mean stupid things to many people - to ignore either the bad or simply to twist the good into their own ends. Don't forget the BNP crusade under the flag of patriotism (it's pretty much the basis of their 'cause'), and I'd hardly want to associate my loyalty towards England with that bunch of racist, violent thugs. See what I mean? As for us sending in troops, I'm all for it - one thing I agree with Blair and Bush (Prime Minister #2) is that to fight terrorism you can't be half hearted. I'm glad we are behind it 100%. If you REALLY want to get into that ****, then I'd like to point out my brother is at this moment in time in Kabul. You know, the capital of Afghanistan? So really, careful what you say there Anyway, give me examples of things to be patriotic about and I'll say whether I'm for them or against them. I won't sweep our faults under the carpet because of some misplaced idea of patriotism. I think a more pertinant question than ;where is my patriotism' would be 'where has your unbridled and unquestioning patriotism come from'? An apology? If you feel my posts are directly aimed at you personally, then I worry about you - since my comments were 'dull, rude and selfish'. Hey, if the cap fits... |
