If anyone is still interested/hasn't found out yet, Brightly Burning fits in just after the Last Herald Mage Trilogy (Magic's Pawn etc).

Why oh why do all my friends give me dirty looks when I tell them I'm reading a book called Magic's Pawn?

Um, does anyone actually know/know where I can find out about the story of Sunsinger and Shadowdancer? All I have managed to gather so far is that it is a (as usual) doomed love affair and is connected to Windrider Unchained somehow!

While I'm sure the nice people from the local archery club meant well, a moment's consideration would have made them realise that giving my friend and I lethal weapons was probably not a good idea!

You can find the Sun and Shadow song in the back of one of the Arrows books, and Windrider Unchained in the back of one of the Last Herald-Mage books. The Last Herald-Mage was definately my favorite, with the Mage Wars running a close second.

I've only read the first and third books of the Mage Winds, and I think it's one of Lackey's better trilogies, but not her best, if you get my meaning. The Mage Storms were also one of my favorites.

The first Mercedes Lackey book I read was Brightly Burning. I liked it, and wanted to read more. I just read the Magic's Pawn / Magic's Promise / Magic's Price trilogy, because they didn't have the Black Gryphon / White Gryphon / Silver Gryphon trilogy in my library. The "magic" books made me think about things I'd never thought about before. And as soon as I get a chance I'll read the next books. They're not quite LotR, but I've given up on trying to find something that good, and these are close enough.

Since my last post, I've read a lot of other Mercedes Lackey posts, and have become quite obessed with Valdemar. Not as obessed as with LotR, but amazingly close...I've read Brightly Burning, Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, Magic's Price, Arrows of the Queen, Arrow's Flight, Arrow's Fall, Winds of Fate, Winds of Change, Winds of Fury, and By the Sword; in that order. (I feel like I'm forgetting one or more, but I'm not sure.) I'm now reading Storm Warning, and have several other books out, and will hopefully read them soon.

Ethuiliel, have you read the Mage Wars (Black Gryphon, White Gryphon, and Silver Gryphon) trilogy yet? It's very good. Well, at least the first two are; the third one probably isn't worth reading.

No, I can't seem to find it in the library, but from the hints I'm getting in other books (Mage Storms, especially) it sounds very good.

I've read Fire Rose but nothing else. I loved that book, but I'm a fan of retold fairy tales; did she rewrite any other fairy tales?

I haven't heard of Fire Rose...oh well. Is it good? I think she also wrote Firebird and the Black Swan.
