I'll state that "Euro-whiner" is offensive to me, and it is inaccurate. These were the two criteria used for not allowing "USAmerican". I think we should be consistent here.

I also would ask that the term "Euro-whiner" be removed from Jerseydevil's last few posts, by Jersey or an admin. It's obvious that the term is used in a purely offensive, insulting manner.

question: what exactly is 'assinine'? I have now seen this term bandied about a
couple of times, and it is causing me a small amount of confusion, from the
context in which it is used, I can tell that it is an insult, perhaps, but I am unsure
as to the actual meaning of the word.

Why? I have asked that USAmerican not be used and she has the DAMN nerve to use it even in MY thread. That is insulting - when she knows I resent and can not stand that term. She has a choice - she either stops using it - or I will bitch everytime I see it and take every thread that it appears in off topic.

I find the term euro-whiner offensive, it was used in a post directed at me, and i do not wish for this I do not whine about anything, i make political comments, and i also exercise my right of protest, i pysically go out there and protest agaisnt things, which is something i am thankful for, the fact that i can go out into the streets and protest.

Well you don't have to sing it. The country whether you like it or not was founded on christian beliefs. It's part of the American heritage. You know - I don't think when people say "The American Dream" they're referring to damn Mexico or Colombia.

You needn't worry. I don't sing it. Or say half of the pledge. What bothers me about the latter, of course, is that, as you know, the word God wasn't even put in until the Cold War.

Nor do I wish to be referred to as a USAmerican - when we have been called Americans for over 200 years. Remember - it was Americans who stormed the beaches of Normandy. I don't think they had any confusion with them possibly being from mexico or Panama. The attitude anymore - is I don't care about Americans - I'll say and do whatever the hell I want to them. Why wouldn't you say half the pledge let's see...

So you have a problem with the "indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all" too?

The "under God" was put into the pledge after WWII - that is all. It was in response to atheist soviet union. Schools before that and even after that required prayers in school though. So I don't know why you think that putting "under God" into the pledge would have been a big thing. I also don't understand why you would only say half the pledge - when it's only TWO words and the rest is important. I don't really care if you skip over the "under God" part. That's your choose.

yeah - they have - but our passed hasn't. The fact that the US was founded on Christian prinicibles has not changed,. You may not like it - but it's fact.

well, I was just going to say that I don't exaclty feel the emotion of love for this country I live in, the U.S.o.A, but I do have a strong loyalty to my state, and my hometown. Extremely strong. It's not like I don't see the bad or dirty parts of it, but I know them and accept them as part of the complex truth that makes up the environment I grew up in. Going from the Pacific Northwest to the Northeast coast of these states is an interesting experience. Distance concepts and ideas about geography and weather are so different. I long for rain, mostly.

Well, I personally don't much care for USAmerican either. It's somewhat annoying to me. I don't normally get so vehement about things as Jersey does. Euro-whiner bothers me a good deal more then USAmerican does. USAmerican is a rather pointless geographical statement. Euro-whiner is an attack both on the speaker and on Europe in general.

By the way - it's nice that on Washington's Birthday that we have to argue about us being called Americans.
