Been listening to Michael Praetorius' "Terpsichore Dances." An fascinating Renaissance composer who also was a music publisher (this early on, that isn't surprising), and author of several treatises on instrumentation.

If you haven't heard anything by him, especially the dances above, I suggest you do yourself a favor and look them up. I'm not 100% sure whether he is the original composer of them or the arranger, but either way you must hear them.

PS: My unsureness comes from the fact that another composer/music publisher, Tielman Susato, collected and published a similar series of dances which he called "The Danserye." Equally compelling music, and very lively.

PPS: Confirmed, Praetorius is the arranger, not original composer, of the dances.
