Finally got around to reading those poetical masterpieces of yours, dear Hector. Loved the one about the pine. Reminds me of one I wrote about balding heads.

You are a master of comedy, oh Great One, especially in the way of wording. But I feel inclined to inquire: Dost thou ever put thy pen to paper in seriousness? Hast thou penned any somber poetical works?

How can I take this losing hand and somehow win?

Just give me One Good Year To get my feet back on the ground.
I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!

*sigh* For me, I mix the somber with the humourous, because each one by itself cometh not out very well when it is I who spill ink on the page.

Right now I'm working on a "Da Vinci Code" spoof about Cinderella instead of Jesus. It's going to be hilarious. I'll be posting it in the Writer's forum I guess...

An Ode to Hectorberlioz

O Hector Berlioz! Thou genius
Composer of belle France, whose words, like notes
Dance upon the screen. We are glad you wrote
For humble and opinionated us.

Facing critics with good humour, and reality
With the mighty sword of artistry,
You never fail to make a Mooter pause
To think, to laugh, to post, at your hilarity.

Hector, this thread is great! I love the way you write. Would you ever consider doing a Silmarillion-like post about the history of Entmoot before you showed up?

Also, you didn't cheat in the 1000 post race. The B sample came back negative.

BTW, this is going in my sig:

No, that is the meaning of the third-conjugation i-stem verb iaceo, iacere, ieci iactum. To throw, or to hurl. I gathered, however, what you meant it to be.

i'm only in my first year of latin, but you have every source i've seen against you...

*Does a little research*

AHA! I see where the difficulty is! You are using the second-conjugation verb "iaceo, iaCEre", whereas I am thinking of the third-conjugation verb "iacio, IAcere". Wow, it's amazing how similar the words are, often. And they have virtually opposite meanings.

Also, I made a slight mistranslation. It should have read "Here WILL THROW Hector, the once and future king", as Hic iacit would be the present form; Hic iacet, if you're gonna use my verb, would have to be future.

Give me the declension of hic, in masculine, feminine, and neuter, boy!

anyway, the original phrase is "HIC IACET ARTHURUS, REX QUANDUS REXQUE FUTURUS"

"HERE LIES ARTHUR, THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING"

that's what it means.

PS, also, i've got matters of the occult up my sleeve! huzzah!

Hector, poem about the Pine was quite entertaining. Sound like Mr. Pine needs a psychiatrist.
