I don't know about the wings. the book didn't have a picture of the broken evenstar (otherwise i'd frame it.. now that the nasty looking piece is busted) it just says that the evenstar "shatters".. i may be able to scan in the passage if you can't take my word for it, but i'll have to do t later, i've got family over now, and can only get away for small amounts of time..

alright then. Who's with me? a convention. we'll get ahold of some of those lovely ME weaspons and use them in various painful ways on PJ. or whoever made these descisions.

I don't see why it would be surprising that he would cut that out. It's not action oriented. I guess he could have changed to action - have a couple of stray orcs come in and then Faramir jumps up and protects Eowym. That is how she falls in love with him adn gets over Aragorn.

This it the scene - 20 orcs storm into the houses of healing. Faramir awakes to see them pawing at Eowyn. He jumps up and stands between them and her. He fights and fends off the 20 orcs single handedly. The camera moves to slow motion - showing Faramir slashing and thrusting at the orcs with his blade. The shot then pans to Eowyn. You see her clasp here hands together abover her heart and let's out a big sigh as if to say "Oh my hero"

That's how Jackson does things.

You seem more upset that HOH is cut then SOTS. I personally don't mind HOH being cut, but I didn't really expect it to be in there anyways.

I'm sorry, but Frodo sending Sam back home is the stupidest thing PJ has done so far. I fear the ROTK will be nothing more than a big battle on Pelennor Fields.

Well - back then I thought the movies were going to be the way jackson was describing them. "oh - I can't change that - the fans would have my head". or "This is a movie by a fan for the fans of Lord of the Rings".

Frodo gasps!

Gollum throws Sam a quick smirk

Sam- Its not true Mr. Frodo! Theres not much left in him but lies and deceipt!

Frodo- Hes been true to his word!

Sam looking heartbroken.

Sam- No Mr. Frodo.

Frodo- Sam, go home.

Sam turns around and slowly walks away with his head down.

A few scenes later.

Shelob is having a tuff time finishing off this little runt.

Frodo's consious while battling with Shelob- I could really use Sams help right now.

Sams is sitting on a rock with a depressed look on his face and he realizes something- What have I done!!!! Gandalf said don't you leave him old Samwise Gamgee.

Sam realizes he needs to help Frodo, gets up and runs through the caves and finds Frodo about to be stung by a giant spider!

Frodo sees Sam and yells- My dear Sam, I'm sorry for sending you home, youve come back just in the nick of time!

Sam seeing mr. Frodo in danger acts quickly. Sam runs and jumps on his back, slides under the spider and sticks his blade up (sword) and the spider sinks right into it.

Sam- that was a close one, right Mr. Frodo.

Sam- Mr. Frodo?

Sam- Frodo???

Sam looks at Frodo and sees that Frodo has been stung!!!

Sam sobs and the audience cries!!!!!! (non tolkein audience!)

Hey it looks like this scene might not be so bad after all!

That is totally ridiculous. Why make it spoiler-proof? It is total fantasy. Someone is pulling our leg. Frodo and Sam may well separate but it sure as hell won't happen that way.

If you want to do the scene right, then why not hand Faramir a chainsaw and be done with it.

I can just picture it now. The hum of the motor. The Howard Shore musical score (or if you prefer Puccini

). The slow motion hacking and slicing of orc limbs, heads, etc. with blood splatter in all directions. After the orcs are dispatched, Eowyn & Faramir embrace and the scene fades to black.

It would be an improvement.

He's seen the movie. There are far more spoilers than the ones posted . . Marty has an entire thread devoted to it. He saw the movie on Thanksgiving Day and agreed to a Q&A type spoiler thread. He did it last year for The Two Towers too.

So - I see that the number of Jackson haters will be going up.

I hope people accept the movies for what they are soon - ACTION movies. I'm sure the hour long Pelenor Fields battle will be great. I'm sure the Army of the Dead will be great. But the sad thing is - there was SO MUCH more to the stories than ACTION SCENES!!!!
