LOL Azalea! My husband seemed to enjoy LoTR till I started in on the "differences between the book and the movie" rap. He glazed over and started saying "yeah" a whole bunch. I lost him!

What I'll probably do is buy the VHS when it comes out August 6 and then save my money for the 4-disc DVD edition coming out in November.

Wow. Everyone is waiting to buy the Special Edition one that comes out in November. Am I the only one planning on buying both? Actually, I'm pretty lucky, I'm getting the eighty-dollar one for a present since it comes out 3 days before my 19 birthday. Unfortunately though, that means I want get it until the 21.

Early Release

Hmm, the Fellowship of the Ring DVD is popping up earlier than August 6, folks. Take a look you can now order it not only from play.com, but at LVS too. Only Region 1 is available, and they state that this is an early release and the price may come down on the date it is released:

I was weighing up the Pro's and Con's of buying the first edition DvD now or just rent it a few times and wait for the Director's Cut version later. Whilst I was still procrastinating, my other and better half took up the Blockbuster Deal, so now I shall chew my nails no longer with the anxiety that such choices cause us consumers!

I still use my VHS every day, and play the DvD's on my Playstation 2 - so why buy a second DvD unit anyway? Can't wait for the EA Games Lord of the Rings game for PS2 and other consoles to be released ... whenever! *Mental note: Must talk other and better half into pre-ordering game....*

Hmmm....I will be purchasing a 74cm Flatscreen TV in a couple weeks time, but....

...when I score the Special Edition DVD, I'll steal my company's video projector - up to 7.5m (diagonal) display. I will thus be chuffed.

what??? they are already sending them at amazon? thats cool. bit i'm also not getting the august 6th release. i'm gonna rent it, and but the extended version. i wish i could buy both, but unfortunately, i can't. but thats ok i guess. the only problem is that from what i've heard the extended version is only coming out on widescreen. i know some people like that better, but since we don't have that special tv it only ends up making the picture smaller. in my opinion its worse. oh well though, for all the special footage i think i can live through it!!! lol.

i know what the extras are gonna be for the november dvd. they are in empire well at least some are.

- the shire sequence is going to be greatlly exteded including a voice over by bilbo 'concering hobbits' and pippin will sing.

- Aragorn will be given a fleshed out back story, including him visiting his mother grave in rivendale and he will sing elvish.

- council of elrond extended with gandalf speak in the dar tounge of mordor and more confrountations with borimir.

- In moria the battle with the cave troll exteded with Aragorn saving Borimirs life.

- Lothlorien is much longer, including more of haldirs complaints over gimli, celeborn, and the famos gift giving sequence with galadriel. her swan boat makes its apperance.

- Gollum as the log with eyes

- the battle with Lurtz and the Uruk-hai has small sceans re inserted. that gives it more zip . for example lurtz pulls the dagger from his leg and licks the blood away.

i also think think that it looks like the fellowship will be chaced though lorien as i have seen pics of this.
