i'm sorry, i apologize for my innate cynicism and acidity, which is in all probability enhanced by my choice of companions, one of whom is a wanna-be Goth/punkette whose favorite color is black. And it doesn't help that my brother's favorite quote is "A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an immediate emergency on my part".

i like Numair. who else likes Numair? i think he's cool.

i know.... i'm very sad because of that. any time anyone mentions the senior prom, Prize Night, or graduation, i practically burst out in tears (not literally, but pretty close). *sniffle* all my friends are leaving....Nathaniel, Josh, Matt Chan, all the cool people...a'course, there're some pretty cool people in the other classes, but some of my best friends are seniors!! *bursts out in tears, then controls herself-barely*.

Don't anybody kill me, but Tamora Pierce really bothers me. I've read most of her books, and I think she is improving with time and practice, but still, I find many, many flaws in all her books. Which is dissapointing, because she has such great ideas sometimes. I really liked the Alanna books, at least a few years ago I did, but they got more and more annoying as they went on. Basically, I liked the first one, parts of the second, and the third, but other than that I got rather annoyed. I liked the Daine books also, mostly, but she seems to have something about having her characters end up with much older men...*cough* Numair *cough* But they were okay. In my opinion, her best book is the one about Briar, not in the first four, but, Street Magic I think it is. The other Briar one is not so good. If you ask me. I mean, bringing their teacher back to life? please. . .

But, I really shouldn't complain, I mean, I suppose I am a bit old for them now, and I'm reading quite different stuff. But, yeah, just thought I'd state my opinion...

hey people, we're all entitled to our different opinions. i personally don't agree with you Eruviel, but that's cuz i've never tried to go through and read them paying attention to technical details etc. i did like the Street Magic one, although i liked the original series better (not necessarily the writing, but just because the group was still so much together, not splitting apart like in the new series). i did think the plot was better in Briar's second book.

George is 5 years older than Alanna (i think; i believe he was 15 when she arrived in Corus at the age of 10, not sure as i haven't read that series in a bit). Numair is about twice Daine's age. that is a bit of a problem, although those people who like reading about romances (i.e. most of my friends and me on occasion) would have really liked the Realms of the Gods because of the Daine/Numair romance.

I'm pretty sure i'm right. well, Daine met Numair when She was 14 so I guess he isn't too much older. One of my friends fathers is 17 or18 yrs older than her mother. GOTTA RUN!

I know I'm a bit late the "who else likes Numair?" post was ages ago but this is the quickest I could manage.

Suspect my liking him may having something to do with cool tonnes of power and I read the Daine books first so got to know Numair the best. Don't like Daine but, er, [slightly embarressed] this could be because she got Numair and I didn't. [Quiet sulking] Yes I know he is a fictional character [sigh]

Much prefered the tortal books to the circle opens although they were still pretty cool but they had less fighting and less Numair in them.....
Ok so I'm a little obsessed.
Along those lines my favourite bit in First test was were he stopped Kel, Neal and forgotten his name, wait it'll come to me, Joren [had to ask for help, damn] with the spell and then forgot to take it off. Then I had a big sulk coz he wasnt in the rest of the series or rather he was but just sitting next to Daine. Not good enough.

Liked Neal though. He's pretty cool. Anyone else thing Kel should've chosen him over stupid Cleon?

Before I go and the rant is over just wanna say that I recently reread just the last chapter of Lioness Rampant and cried at Liams death. Methinks I need a life.

It's been ages since I read those books, but as I recall, he was a lot older than 15. Like, about 20 or so at the youngest. One of you people who has the first book, can you tell us?

George was about 17 when Alanna first arrived I recon but it could be much older than that.

Still not as bad as Numair who I have to defend from various friends who say he is too old for Daine. Daine's 16 while he's 30. That's a pretty bit age difference, still Numair is the coolest so it doesnt matter and I can forgive him for being really ooooold.
