Re: Reply

ufff, esa es una pregunta MUY difĂ*cil

of course the head Spanish book is Don Quijote de la Mancha by Cervantes. It's a very wise book and also very funny. The only problem is that it is of the XVII Century so you may find it a bit difficult. As you may know it’s about a man who went mad for reading to many books (does that sound familiar to you? ). The character of Sancho Panza is the closeest you can find to Sam Gamgee.

If you like to read theatre you’ll enjoy some of our masters of the Golden Century as El Caballero de Olmedo by Lope de Vega or La Vida es Sueño, by Calderón de la Barca.

We have had great poets as San Juan de la Cruz (the best for me) or, in the XX Century, Antonio Machado and Juan Ramón Jiménez. However i must say there wasn’t any really good novellist in the XIX Century (a century of great novellists all around the world).

In the XX Century i can advise you to read El Aleph, a very good book of short stories by Jorge Luis Borges (who is from Argentine) and some books of the recently dead spanish novellist Miguel Delibes, as El Camino or Señora de Rojo sobre Fondo Gris.

well, that is only MY list...

y tu español no es nada apestoso, seguro que lo hablas mejor que yo el inglés

By utilizing my astounding(ly awful) knowledge of French (and of course Amazon. com), I have discovered, for the sake of those who know even less French than I do, that the English title would be A Wizard of Earthsea. The French is prettier, don't you think? (For one thing, sorcier is just a cool word!)

Sorry. :/ I find these things absolutely fascinating.

Re: The Best

Hmm... I think I must say the Discworld series(the ones I've read), The hitchhikers guide Trilogy(all five books)... Wheel of Time, Sword of Truth... the last two are great series, but I am unsure whether to add them to my favorites... yeah, I think I must...
As for nonfantasy, there are too long since I've read a nonfantasy book... read Slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut at school a coupla years ago... that was pretty good...

I read Wizard of Earthsea for school. It didn't do much for me. I like all of Robert Silverberg's Majipoor books. I also liked The Mists of Avalon and The Lady of Avalon .

I like The Stand by Stephen King. I also like his short story collections, Night Shift, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, and Skeleton Crew. I also like Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy.

Oh yeah, Harry Potter isn't too bad either.
