Christmas Concert huh? I'll be at my grandfather's house all day that day, then leave early the next morning to drive 200 miles to my Dad's house. Should be fun. At least I get to see everybody at Christmas.
Goin to class, bye.

It's her birthday on the 24th, so the entire family will go out for dinner to celebrate. But I still have to get her a present...

Her birthday's on the 24th?! Crazy! That would be cool and...well not-cool in many ways for her. How old will she be?

76. I missed her 75th birthday when I was in Japan. That's why I send her flowers with the credit card thing.

The mystery resolves itself.

Give her my best. My grandfather's birthday was a while back, and we got him stuff from Bass Pro Shops (he loves to fish).

So, why were you in Japan? I know you like the language.

She wants a nice picture of you, and an audio book.

My granny is the internet-sufing, minesweeper playing kind. I don't think an audio-book would do the trick. And she actually did ask for a picture, how did you know?
But she wanted a familypicture, so that's what the parents are giving her. I know she also loves classical music and we both like to sing, so I thought it would be fun to do something together, especially since I'm the oldest grandchild. Except for my sister, the others are 9 years younger.

By the way, Nautipus, I was in Japan for a year 'cause I study Japanese languages and cultures, so in order to learn more and better, I studied there at a university.

Your grandmother sounds cool.

My buddy goes there to learn martial arts. That must have been fun for you.

Because that's such a granny-thing to do ask. There are pictures of me and my sister everywhere in my grandparents' house. We often joke about and claim that since one of our pictures is displayed more prominent, *she* (or me) is the favourite granddaughter. When my sister was in a newspaper article (again, grumble) my gran took the article everywhere in her handbag. So she just 'accidentally' had it with her when she went out, and showed it to everybody. Even the doctor got to see it.

Hahaha! That's so funny and typical behaviour of proud grandparents! But in my case I had to carry the newspaper around myself. Not my sister though, hers was bigger with picture and actually was framed and hung in the livingroom...
Oh well, I had more.

Older people HAVE stuff. I mean, toasters, golf clubs, clothes, stemware. Young people either have NO stuff, or stuff that needs upgrading. So they like reminders of the things they love. Which would be you.

Audio book is fun even in the car, well read. A 76 year old (in this country) grew up listening to radio dramas. It's a different art form than visual.

Direct her here to Entmoot! And give her a Tolkien book, that's what I always want for Christmas.

haha! I could try. Don't think she will be into Tolkien though. I have absolutely no memory of seeing my grandmother reading or her referring to books. She did read me a lot when I was little though, but I think that is pretty much it.

My step mom's son and his kids are gonna be over some time on Christmas. along with my niece's bf and my bf.

On trees: we decorated a ficus tree last year. The dog tried to eat the fake tree and the the decorations. I got as a pic of it somewhere.

Ate the tree? That probably resulted in a sick dog?

19 days left... Almost vacation time!
My last exam ends on the 21st at 11.30, so from that time on I only have to worry about writing my thesis for an entire month before I have to start thinking of retakes.
Woohoo!
