The meaning of life.
Now there is the most pointless question ever. THe meaning of life is too discover the meaning of life. THast what this is all leading up to. We pass down knoweledge to our DNA replicates. THen in turn they pass down our knoweledge with their new knoweldge. THat is the meaning of life. ANwyay what would we do if we discovered it. I think it would be an ending not a beginning to discover it. Life is a journey and we are the travelers.

The meaning of life is to live it to the fullest, make it as best you can and keep dreaming and working at fulfilling those new dreams. Without that - life is meaningless and there is no reason to be on the planet.

If you ask the question, presumably you want an answer. If you knew what the meaning of life was, what would you do? Would it make sense? Is there only one answer?

People are so different from one another I don't think it's possible to have one answer to this question. (42. It had to be done, eh Inked? )

JD's answer is a good way to have a happy and fulfilling life. There would be quite a variety of ways that this would happen for different people, another way to show that there's more than one answer.

I just meant that life has a different meaning for everyone.

As for debating more of life's mysteries... well, you started the last two threads, do you have another one in mind for us?

the meaning of life....this could get messy :P

I have a simple approach...our fates are not pre-determined, however they are predictable...at any given moment though one can change their 'destiny' with one random act...if someone tells you that you're 'destined' to become a great world leader, what's to stop you from going and stealing the neighbours car for a joyride and landing a criminal record...if you really want to, you can.*though it's not reccomended*

Enjoy life, and help others enjoy theirs. Make sure to have fun once in a while. Make sure to eat on a daily basis, and if possible, bring a new soul into this world so they can experience what there is out there, and teach them that the world isn't all doom and gloom, and that there are quite a few wonderful things to experience out there.

then again, tha'ts just my opinion

I find it ironic when people say not to live for a God, and then say to live for themselves and others.

How is a God not an 'other'?

I don't see why anybody thinks the meaning of life has to be some sort of grand universal claim. Beyond that, to say that it has a different meaning for everybody actually does not go far enough. I would say that the meaning of life is not only self-determined, it's self-determinable - one can engage in the conscious act of defining and redefining it for oneself at will.

apparently, the meaning of life is to give other people your sense of meaning!.....and you thought it was just Christians who did this sort of thing!
