Runescape Scam!

My middle son likes to play Runescape with his friends, but he got scammed last week and lost all of his Runescape stuff

He googled Runescape to go to it and someone had built a fake site and so they got his username and password, and proceeded to have his character drop all his stuff so that they could pick it up

It just steams me that people cheat like that and scam other people that they don't even know, but it's worse in the case of my middle son, because he's the one with handicaps and can't walk, and he gets to "walk" and "run" in these games, and darn it, they ripped him off!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has an old Runescape account with some stuff that they aren't using anymore that he could have. Just thot I'd check - sometimes people just get tired of it and are willing to give it to someone else.

(ps- there's no way we can appeal to the admins - it's just tough luck)

Oh, that's just low.

I hate internet scammers. In the end you've got to jump through a millions hoops just to be able to surf the net without being robbed blind.

Still get mail regularly from the director of the FBI who wants to give me millions...

And then there's that 'secret admirer' that constantly wants to tell me secrets or send me e-cards, but could I just log in with my email and password to receive them? Haha. NO.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that, Rian.

That's terrible. I unfortunately have no Runescape account.

If he's not feeling like starting over, you might have him check out the LOTR Online MMORPG. I've found it to be really fun, and it's free to play (you can pay for some perks, but you really don't have to). It would be a lot more difficult for someone to scam his account through that because LOTR is likely going to have much better policies to prevent that kind of thing from happening.

Sorry, that sucks.

I was a mod for that game once, many moons ago, I still use it as a free way to get in touch and "hang out" with buddies. I'll hop on there and add him, and see what I can give him. What's his user name?

He's got two accounts now - could you use Gabrill2, because his friend is using his main account for a few days. Then he could just transfer whatever you give him to his main account when his friend is done, right?

Edit - hey, I just thought of something - you put him on your friends list, but that account is going to expire at the end of the month ... he got his main account back now, which is Bluehalk300 - should you put that one on your friends list instead? Sorry for the trouble - we prob. should have just waited until his friend gave him the account back, but we got all excited ....

I unfortunately have no Runescape account. If he's not feeling like starting over, you might have him check out the LOTR Online MMORPG. I've found it to be really fun, and it's free to play (you can pay for some perks, but you really don't have to). It would be a lot more difficult for someone to scam his account through that because LOTR is likely going to have much better policies to prevent that kind of thing from happening. Sorry, that sucks.
