Walking Dead

So far so good- any show whose opening scene has a little girl holding a dolly getting her head blown off can't be all bad....

Zombies- good, slow , though a little more lively than the traditional Romero Living Dead variety.

And, unlike the Infected, these have the traditional zombie virtue of being able to take a licking and keep on ticking- witness the half-eaten corpse that still keeps trying to grab the main character.

Main deviation from standard is that they're attracted by sound, rather than whatever sense zombies typically have (smell?) that allows them to automatically hunt out the living.

And of course, the most essential trait of all, the survivors doing incredibly stupid things in order to give the undead a fighting chance.

(I liked the way that the movie "The Ring" got around this with how the monster, who came from a video tape, could "fast-forward" move - very VERY clever way to get past this always-troublesome aspect of slow-moving-type monsters! )

I just watched the trailer and it seems good!
Despite very varying quality I've found myself really enjoying films like 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, Day of the Dead and I Am Legend. So a good-looking zombie TV-series might definitely be something, I think

Yeah, pretty good acting from the lead character, and decent writing and production values. Surprisingly little gore- well, for a zombie show anyway- I guess they figure if they're going to stretch it out over the series they can't have too much at once.

Of course, the essence of any good zombie movie is the relationships among the survivors- how people react when everything falls apart.
