Battle Of Evil !

Can you imagine the Morannon. In one corner, Melkor in his weakened state. In the other Sauron at his peak.

Who would win do you reckon ?

Or ,maybe you shouls try a massive brawl with Sauron, melkor, Gothmog 1, Gothmog2, The Witch King, etc.

That would be a great fight wouldn't it !

What do you think.

Re: Battle Of Evil !

I think Melkor, even at his weakest, would thrash all the others. He was a Valar, no matter what - most of the others drew power that came from Melkor himself! The Balrogs and Sauron were Maia, so were inherently below him in power, while the Witch King would have been blown away by any of them.

You're probably right about that.

Heres a new one, which do you think is the 'creepiest' if I can say that without soundin really sad.

For me it has to be the Witch King.

And just going off topic for a second does anyone find it hard to believe that Aragorn can drive off a load of Nazgul at Weathertop but Wizards like Saruman and Gandalf have a hard time with them. How did the heir of Isildur do that ???

Re: Reply

The Witch-King stabbed Frodo with a cursed knife and thought the Hobbit was done for anyway. So he thought he'd done a good job of it and told the rest of the guys to back off.

He didn't count on Hobbits' strangely tough physiology. "Soft as butter, yet tough as old tree-roots" was how old Gandalf put it. Maybe the Witch-King expected Frodo to fade away after 3 days and come under his control. Frodo went on for three weeks until he got to Rivendell, without fading.

So Aragorn didn't drive off the Nazgul, it was more like the Witch-King getting overconfident.

Re: Reply

Here's an odd thought.

Frodo was wearing the Ring when he resisted them. Could they take him against his will when he wore the Ring? Or did they HAVE to wait until his will was weakened by the wound?

Where does it say that?

I've never read that Sauron at his peak was more powerful than Melkor. Where did you read that?

Re: Where does it say that?

I think it is in one of the later HoME books, either Morgoth's Ring or War of the Jewels. Probably Morgoth's Ring.

It may be a matter of the word POWER

with his ring he over ran all of ME to the doors of Lindon.

as far as more power as in sway yes he may have been

BUT in personal might melkor is the man

Assuming no minions are used, I agree that Melkor is our ainur. Note that he was able to convince Sauron to switch to his side when he mounted a coup against Manwe and Eru. I also read somewhere in Sil, I think, that they were very alike except that Sauron was more of a soldier than Melkor. Melkor wouldn't settle bending for anyone else.

morgoth was sauron's master. if morgoth ever escaped the void, sauron would not oppose him. this is what makes morgoth the better of the two.

Melkor, but if Sauron had the Ring, I don't think anyone could win.
