Middle Earth Card Game

Did anyone other than myself ever get into the MECCG by Iron Crown Enterprises. The game play was pretty decent and the art on some of the cards was spectacular, it's too bad Iron Crown went out of business.

I used to go to all these card shops and all the owners said Middle Earth doesn't sell. How sad a world we live in when Middle Earth can be outsold by Pokemon.

I have two expansions. Some of the art is quite good.
I agree with you, it’s a pity ICE closed. I don´t play the game but I am a role player (or was) and I am quite fond of MERP.

Yes it is sad that something like Pokemon can overrule Middle earth but still, Pokemon is kind of cool.

Well ok actuly I REALY like pokemon but whatever.

Is this the same board-game that I found at Walden books over X-mas break?? It was a board game called LotR and had an expansion edition you could buy as well... I didn't buy it; but I'd be interested in hearing a review of it.

Nope, MECCG stands for Middle Earth Collectable Card Game and MERP stands for Middle Earth Role Playing. None is a board game. Both are now out of print, but I’ve been told that a new role-playing game and a new card game based on TLOTR is now available by Decipher, yet I don’t know any specifics about this new games.
Also, I think there is a TLOTR miniatures war game by Games Workshop.

The ICE card game really is quite good. It is too bad you can't get them in stores any more. You can still get them fairly cheeply at ebay though. I manadged to put a decent deck together with a few cheap purchases.
