At least 2 were home schooled, but that's neither here nor there. The point is that cliques exist beyond teen-dom - I don't know that it's possible to 'stamp' them out, nor that it's entirely healthy to do so. My experience was on the extreme end of the spectrum, but that doesn't mean that cliques are inherently bad. Like tends to attract like and all that.
