The Dwarves
I bought and read a relatively new book called the Dwarves. In this book Dwarves are the protectors of the Good lands, protecting the humans and to a certain level the elves from evil creatures from the Bad lands.
The critiques said that the Dwarves are strong characters, reminding of Gimli and I thought the book was quite good. Or at least, it showed us some more of the Dwarves. At the moment I don't have the book at hand, so I can't tell you who wrote it, but I'll edit this post to include the name if I have it.  Has anyone else read it? What did you think?

hehe, the writer is Markus Heitz.
 Sorry, the book was in Leiden and I was not so it took me some time to find the author.

Yes, or at least, in Dutch it is... hehe
The Dwarfes and The War of the Dwarfes by Markus Heitz It seems to be the same in English, unless the person quoted above also simply translated the title.
