His Dark Materials Movies

Casting has started (presumably for "The Golden Compass")

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4805894.stm

Hope they do a good job of it- and definitely hope "The Amber Spyglass" will be better than the book- what a letdown!

Meanwhile, Pullman continues to say silly things about Lewis:

His Dark Materials was certainly a brilliant trilogy. I too definitely hope the movies come close to that writing! Is Philip Pullman personally involved in the movie making?

I love the way the Article says Lion is the second in the series.

Well, according to Lewis and the numbering of most recent editions, it is.
I totally disagree with that, but others don't- there's a whole thread on the C.S. Lewis forum about it- "The Real first and Presumed first"

It'll be interesting to see how they treat the anti-religion stuff. My guess is that Pullman would not agree to it if he felt it was too watered down.

As long as it's not anti-Muslim, they're fine. They know that Catholics don't generally get up in arms and threaten violent action nowadays at any hint of an insult to their faith. The media makes fun of them all the time. Why should they be concerned about this one?

Hey, third reply down is from our own Attalus, Swan Knight of Dol Amroth.
Haven't heard from him for a while- sorely missed.

I remember the hoo-ha over Life of Brian, and they didn't kill God...
