Welcome to the board
![]() The Dunedain, led by Elendil, came to Middle-earth and established kingdoms. The Northern Kingdom was Arnor, and the Southern Kingdom was Gondor. Arnor was destroyed by the Witch-king, but its line of kings survived as Rangers. Aragorn was descended from this line. Gondor, on the other hand, remained intact but its line of kings died out. The Steward of Gondor ruled in the place of the king and Boromir's father was one of these stewards. Aragorn, as heir to Elendil, was the legitimate king by blood, and Boromir's family had been ruling temporarily.
