I mean the explanantion you have is good.

The Barrow Downs in LOTR the book are still in Bombadil's land - so they're sort of protected.

After so many years - there really shouldn't be many valuable items around Weathertop - they would have been taken long ago. But it could be explained away that since Aragorn is a descendant of the wights - that he is able to take the weapons and they don't affect him. So the downs are still haunted and protected from everyone else - just like they are in the book. I guess in some ways - give Aragorn some of Bombadil's power over the wights.

Weathertop was well within the rangers 'territory', if the B-downs were nearby Aragorn would know which downs had been plundered and which hadn't. Arthedain wasn't the most populous place after the fall of Arvedui, so I don't think it's necessary that all the downs should be plundered. Particularly with the rangers hanging around. As for the wights....this is Jack$on's ME, ain't no wights.

Well I accept your explanation. Now all we have to do is contact Jackson - have him reshoot the Weathertop scene and add it in.

And I was personnally upset there were now Barrow Downs or wights in Jackson's movie.

It's spelt Jack$on, hee hee j/k. I know you actually liked the movie 'as a movie' (so did I), I still like it as an adaption though, but the issues you've brought up are very good. I just read somewhere that the dvd will have 1/2 hour of extra footage, and Jack$..er, Jackson says it's all 'character stuff', no fight scenes.

I've read everything from it having an hour and a half extra through to including the actual birth of Jesus Christ.

Like most things, why worry about it until we see it all?

Yeah - I do like LOTR as a movie (seperate from the book). I'm not happy about a lot of it - but there is nothing I can do about it.

I still like Excalibur better and I wanted this to surpass it.

But what happened to the 1 1/2 hour of extra footage everyone was saying? Was that just rumor?

Gerbs is right. I should just wait till it comes out. But the rumours are somewhat interesting.

Well I do hope you are right about the more character development.

I had heard rumours that Tom Bombadil was filmed - but I don't believe that because I never heard any actor named for him.

I also read about the DVD and i heard that it would be almost 2hours longer. With the fight scenes not changeing but comeing more groosom. The reason that these more violent scenes were not put in the move was to keep the rateing down.
