Well, if people are stilll curious about the fate of the entwives, you should head over to the "Letters from Middle Earth" thread.

*blushes*

You do me too much honour, but I'm glad you liked it.

Interesting thread, and good of BoP to resurrect it. I, too, like the tragical aspects of the Saga of the Ents, and the fact that Tolkien left it unresolved. As usual, he didn't say that, he said that he did not know the answer. As for the Ents form of government, I suspect a tribal system where elders like Treebeard and the other two were listened to with respect, but then the "tribe" voted on it, like the ancient Germans, see Tacitus.

I think Ents are uncommon dull. More than anything else. And I really do like everything else! And also I somewhat dislike eagles. Only in the Hobbit they are fine, not in lR

No! Eagles are the best! And I don't think Ents are dull. There's so lot to say about them, they can never be dull.

Ahem! Eagles rocks! Don't come here, saying different. I could pass that on the ents, but eagles, no way!

Calm down Pytt. CS didn't really mean that. No one will say anything bad against the Eagles.

They're not dull, that's just hasty people talking.
