You get Blackadder and Mr Bean in America? Is it popular?

I´ve seen Black Adder for the first time in the original version with subtitles. So I learned the word "Aardvark" (or Aardfark?). Later I bought some VHS with german voices and just a few weeks ago the TV station RTL2 broadcasted some episodes in the afternoon. I think they didn´t understand anything of it because they put it between some children´s cartoon series.

I would have liked more subtitled episodes because it seemed to me that the translation is quite bad and the real good jokes just don´t come over.

The other stuff of Rowan Atkinson is not my kind of humour, especially I don´t like Mr. Bean.

Ah yes, Blackadder. An hilarious series. Does anyone remembers the scene were The king makes Edwin bishop, and, for once, Blackadder actually pleases the King?

“My son,” says the king with pride. “Father,” say the son emotionally.
Then, “My son,” says Edwin benevolently to the king before him. “Father, “ the king answers, with deference.

Or the time Edwin showed the interior of a English cannon to the Scottish champion of the king.

Many thanks for giving the link to the Black Adder Scripts. So I can check if the translation in german is as bad as I thought and read the episodes I have missed.

Yeah, I liked Black Adder, even though it was strange seeing Rowan Atkinson actually talk.

I think I used to watch Mr. Bean on PBS, public television. They also broadcast "Britcoms" on Saturday nights like "Are You Being Served?", "Waiting for God", and "Keeping Up Appearances". And there was also that movie "Bean" starring Mr. Bean that was released over here. I love that movie and never look at Whistler's Mother the same way anymore.

Oh yeah, it must be a bit strange if you got Mr Bean first (another classic program.....especially when he is making a fresh sardine sandwhich on the park bench hehehe ).

Good to see that Blackie is giving the "true" British history throughout the world

My God! What must you think of Britain now?

Look on it as a payback for "Dynasty", "Titanic" and Jimmy Osmond.

"What is your name?"
"Wibble"
"What's two plus two"
"Ah! Wibble Wibble"
"Where are you from"
"London"
"What?"
"A small town on the Planet Mars outside the capital - Wibble"

I love Blackadder, it's one of the best comedy series ever, alongside Father Ted and The Young Ones. Though I haven't seen it in ages.

EDIT: Hey I've already posted in this thread - I can't remember ever posting here....
