Time Person of the Year 2003 - The American Soldier

Time just named the 2003 Person of the Year to be the American Soldier.

I read the articles and they were interesting. I think TIME made a good choice this year.

Congratulations all the American soldiers out there for being the persons of the year!

While I cannot disagree much with Time's Choice, I think the Person of the Year should be a single distinct person, IMO.

I do not know what Time's criteria is in choosing the POY. If a generic person is permitted then I think the American Soldier is a very good choice.

May all the troops be able to return safe and sound to their families soon.

Well... one particular year (mid-late 80's?) I think their choice was "the computer" I guess they set their own criteria.

Hey - gotta get Beor's reaction to this... when he's back on duty and posting again!

They have had groups of people or strange things like the computers as 'Person of the Year' before.
In 1960 the US scientists' were appointed 'Persons of the Year', and in 1975 it was the American women's turn.
In 1950 they appointed the American Fighting-Man 'Person of the Year', which ressembles this year's choice.

Yes, I hope Beor will enjoy being the Person of the Year
