I take it that you won't listen to rap, eh?
Hobbies: Tolkien's works. Tolkien himself. Writing. World Building. Talking on AIM (though not as much as some folks I've known, all of whom have mysteriously found their way to my block list... ) Watching Certain Television Shows (Simpsons, Frasier, Cosby [the Cosy Show, too, but I'm always at work when it's on ]) (As a side note, this week I get to go see Cosby, live! WHEEEEEE!!!! ) Playing Shadowbane and Soul Calibur. Listening to music. Gregorian Chant principally, but for several days I've been listening to the Ballad of Bilbo Baggins for some good laughs. Mooting. Other message boards. Watching movies. Present faves are A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Producers.

Reading literature, of course.
Watching films of all sorts and writing lengthy reviews about them. I actually haven't done the second part in a while, but whenever I do, I love it. Posting on messageboards... I used to moderate droves of them, but Entmoot is the only (public) one that has survived. Nowadays I also frequent CUSIDnet and the Students' Union Webboard, which will be of absolutely no interest to anybody here. Debating! I love university debate. It's a whole lifestyle unto itself. Playing the piano - I'm classically trained but I do a lot of jazz improv now. I also play the clarinet. Scrabble. I play in clubs and tournaments. If you think you're a Scrabble expert, this is a great way to be completely humbled by the true wordmasters. Video games - mostly of the classic nostalgic variety (think NES and SNES), but I also play some titles on GameCube and PC. Computer graphics. I used to do a lot of 3D stuff but I'm really behind the times... nowadays I mostly work in 2D with PhotoShop and the like. Though I've been acquainting myself with Maya recently. I write, but I don't have much output to prove it... well, other than a few published articles.

In no particular order . . .
1. Guitar - Though I'd really call it a lifestyle and way of life for me 2. Video Games 3. Reading 4. Chess 5. Collecting martial arts films with Bombadillo 6. Hockey 7. Magic: The Gathering - It's a hobby that always goes on and off. I never stick with it for too long but then start playing again every few months or so. Most anything else I do is seasonal sport type stuff such as snowboarding, various watersports or fishing.

In descending order of enjoyment and ascending order of work involved...
Wine: pinot noir, gruner veltliner, reisling, zinfandel, syrah, mmmmm Movies: foreign, old, avant garde Music: experimental (new music), opera, jazz, rock Art: very very contemporary Books: all kinds, bad and good, classic and trashy I really need to become more selective... Food: reading and collecting vintage cookbooks, inventing curries, baking bread, etc if it weren't for the fact that I eventually have to stop and wash dishes (UGH) I'd never stop cooking Gardening: starting from seed heirloom tomatoes, peppers, beans, lettuce, and a few flowers learning to tolerate weeds -- they are , after all, merely plants growing where you don't want them to -- and at least they're green...

Tolerating weeds eh! I live far out in the country, where the weeds are relentless! I have different gardens with different "weed tolerances". I must admit, my most beautiful and lush gardens are the "Absolutely no weeds allowed ever!" gardens. If a weed even thinks about growing.....it's gone. Walking these gardens several times daily, looking for "invaders" gives me great joy!
Then there is a "I'll get you later" garden, where weeds can think they're going to grow, but once a season I'll come around with a thick layer of wood chips and suffocate them. Lastly, I have a small garden that is composed of several invasive plants (marguerite, oregano, bee balm, mint, bishops weed) and weeds I like! Queen Annes lace and goldenrod can stay, also milkweed and a couple cute weeds that I don't even know the name of. This blathering is for Hasty Ent! Sorry to go so OT. As I stated earlier, gardening is a hobby of mine!

I as well love to garden, though I don't usually have the patience to get all the pesky weeds.

Elvengirl, OT means 'Off topic'. Which is odd considering 'On topic' would have the same initials.
For my hobbies: look at the list above, and exclude snowboarding and golf. Include basketball and shopping (for books) |

No. I want to put some pictures on, and I do have a digital camera, but for some reason it won't let me put any on this PC.
