Blunder No. 1: “During the scene with Sam and Frodo in the field with a scarecrow, you can plainly see a car cruising past in the distance, from left to right.”
Quote:
Jackson: We actually didn’t know about the car until we were cutting the movie. The smoke [from the exhaust] and dust wasn’t so bad because there was already lots of it around, but the bloody windshield was reflecting the sun back into the camera lens. So we erased it for the DVD. I think some people were upset because they tried to show it to their friends and it was gone.
I may not be remembering correctly, but doesn’t Jackson deny that there was ever a car in this scene on the Fellowship extended commentary?

No mention of how Pippin's hands are magically unbound when he is screaming underneath the horse, then bound again as he is crawling away? That, by far, is the biggest mistake so far (well, as far as movie goof-ups go )

Well, I'm starting to realize that PJ has fibbed about a few things.

Yes he does, one of the MANY lies of Jackson.
I have to go through the list. I wonder if it mentions the Black Riders being set on fire on Weathertop and their robes are fine for the Flight to the Ford. Like I said when FotR came out - they must have been carrying luggage with a change of robes.

I believe I saw a car in the field scene when I saw the FOTR at the movies. Why, if there was no car in the first place, was it deleted on the FOTR DVD?

It was in the theatrical version, It was deleted when they made the DVDs, then on the commenary of the FotR extended Edition he says there was never a car, now he says - that in fact there was a car there and it was removed.

You just can't trust him as far as you can throw him.

I heard PJ say on the FOTR DVD that there was no car. My question was rhetorical.

To be fair to PJ, he might have made a mistake when he made the commentary. A big mistake, however. Somebody should ask him again if he still believes there was no car -- even though it is almost certain they removed something from that particular scene.

Based on his past history of lying such as "I am a fan making this movie for the fans of Lord of the Rings", "all the actors must read the books prior to filming","we use the books as reference for EVERY scene to get the characters right", etc, etc. I doubt he made a "mistake".

Blunder No. 4: “In shots of Fangorn Forest from a distance, it’s an evergreen forest. Seen from up close or inside, it’s a deciduous forest.”
Jackson: Wow. Well, when you see it from the outside, it’s a real beech forest on the South Island of New Zealand. But seen from the inside, it’s a miniature forest that we built. [ Pause ] You’ve got pages and pages there. And those are all mistakes they’ve spotted?
Beech trees are deciduous, to be fair to Jackson.
