Re: Regions of Middle Earch

orod = mountain, ered = mountains
amon = hill, emyn = hills
ephel = fence but is applied figuratively to mountains (Ephel Duath, fence of shadows) and to stockades (Ephel Brandir)

For what it's worth.

Now how many times have you read this book? I've read it like 3 times.

Re: Regions of Middle Earch

If you're asking me that question, I stopped counting at around 100 and I stopped estimating at around 200 times.

Hardly a day has gone by in the last 5 years when I haven't picked up at least one Tolkien book and looked through it, usually to help answer someone's question(s).

Lets see.... Numenor was an island in the Western Sea. They could not sail to Valinor but could and did sail to the coast. Is not Middle Earth the circles of Arda where mortals dwell? Or is it just a certain land mass that is called Middle Earth? I always considered that which is outside the undying lands Middle Earth.

Hmm well in the Silmarillion certainly places in Arda were considered seperate from middle earth (also read in UT) that would mply numenor was considered as seperate from middle earth as aman.
