Maybe Faramir will have this dramatic transformation once he meets the fair Eowyn. (Or maybe being near death with the Nazgul wound will change his perspective.) He could turn out okay, or at least okay enough for Eowyn to love, because we already saw some of the 'transformation' when he let Frodo and Sam go.

I don't think so. The scriptwriters would have had (I assume) the script for the ROTK written at the same time as TTT. They would have had the whole scenario mapped out. I just hope that it is close to the book.

Well, I guess that's true. But they did change the script afterwards.
