The Hobbit inspired me to read Lord of the Rings. Guess it's just an inspirational book.

It was one of the first fantasy books I had read, so it gave me a new look of fantasy

Strider Cool !

The first time I read the Hobbit I was about 12 years old.I have wonderful memories of listening to my Grandma reading it aloud to my great aunt. A family favorite.

I think (based on a few posts here and my immediate world) that many us us first had the Hobbit read to them. I remember my dad reading a little bit each night to me and my sister when I was in first grade, but I had to finish reading it on my own. I'm curious to see if many other people had a similar experience with the Hobbit.

Believe it or not, my first encounter with The Hobbit came from the Rankin-Bass animated version when I was about 4 or 5. I almost completely forgot about it until I saw the book in the library one day and got a flashback of a wizard and a dragon. I checked it out and loved it. That's how I got into LotR. Mine is probably a unique experience.

I was first introduce to The Hobbit by a teacher

When I was 6 or 7yrs old I fell in love with The Chronicles of Narnia and over a couple of months I hired them from the school library.....when I returned the final part (The Last Battle) my teacher suggested that if I enjoyed that kind of book I should try The Hobbit, I hired it, loved it, and life has never been the same since

I stole The Hobbit from by brother when I was 5. He was annoyed because I always used to take his stuft and I wasn't intelligent enough to use it (My brother was 21!)
From then on I tryed to read. About 2 months later I stole the book from him again and when he said I was dum I read the 1st line of it to him, then the whole page! I loved the book from then so Mum read it too me all the time then a 3 years later I rented the book from from the libary and was able to read it!

No I can't remember this but my Dad told me about it loads!
