Chating or something?

Since we now can see who is online with us (or was online in the last 15 minutes...)
Wouldn't it be fun to have a little members-only chat room? or at least a mean to send messages to each others... (Right now, Ben, Elenna & Comic Book guy are online with me...)

We've discussed the possibility of a chat room before but ultimately decided against it for multiple reasons. The board's a good place for chatting, or there's always aim and icq

And on vBulletin, it goes further than that - it tells you who's at the board that very second, let alone the past 15 minutes.

As Tater said, a chatroom is redundant considering the real-time nature of this board and AIM/ICQ etc. Plus, someone would have to be in there all the time to police it. Not fun.

Thanks, but if we're to move, it would make the most sense to move to our own server rather than someone else's. I don't see the point of moving from one free service to another, when both are equally likely to go out of business.

The primary advantage of pricy vBulletin over free boards such as Ikonboard is that vBulletin offers an ezboard conversion tool - so we won't have to face the decision of spending long hours cutting and pasting or starting fresh. Also, vBulletin has a lot of cool features, more so than Ikonboard.

I meant: something only registered, APPROVED members would have access to. Then, no needs to have a moderator all the time. Just approve the members you trust. Or having the mean to send an instant message. Not to discuss any thread but just saying: hello, what are you doing? (or wasssssssup..)

Anyway I think vBulletin has the kind of board-wide IM'ing system that you're describing. (Whether we turn it on or not is another story )

I have ICQ... but, as I told you somewhere else (in the I.'m back thread), My computer died, I had to reformat. What do you think happened to my ICQ list? GONE!
