Favourites
Who's your favourite character in The Hobbit? Besides Bilbo, that's much too obvious a choice. I think I like Dori.

Re: Favourites
I choose Beorn, picturesque, wild and good, feasting on wild honey, fanagled into entertaining 14, enjoying their story, and then on the wild side, checking up on it as a bear. Straight out of the metamorphoses... and he also reminds me of Aslan.

Re: Favourites
The Eagal is cool.
Elrond is nifty. Gollum is the man. Gandalf is mystical. and Beorn is shape shifty. if this doesn't answer your question nothing will. I guess I'm just trying to say that I can't limit my answer to just one character. |

Re: Favourites
I guess Gandalf and Gollum are also too obvious? If I can't choose them I suppose my favorite would have to be Thorin. Especially during his last moments in the book. That was very profound for me the first time I read it.

Re: Favourites
I can't seem to decide between the Eagles (as a collective group) or Gandalf
decisions, decisions... |

Re: Favourites
Go with the Eagles! Gandalf's been done before, I daresay.

Re: Favourites
hmmm.... I woud say... Thorin. He's a great character. (I tend to go for interesting rather than likeable characters - Thorin drove me up the wall half the time, but I find him interesting... sooo....)

Re: Favourites
The elves of Rivendell with their "over merry tongues" are my favorites.

I'd have to say elrond. He's the coolest of the elves!! and there's so much history related to him. plus i love all elves to death. i wish there were more in the Hobbit.

I know it's weird but....I liked the trolls! Loved their dialog..."Mutton today, mutton yesterday, and blimey if it don't look like mutton agin' tomorrer!"

Well my favorite parts in the books always have to do with Rivendell... So Elrond is my favorite overall. Gandalf, of course, but that is obvious... I didn't really like Thorin that much and Gollum was too slimy for me... I really liked Beorn a lot, though, and of the dwarves I liked dear Bombur even though he fell asleep and was too fat for anyone's good.
