save me... (SPOILERS!)

yesterday i was in me favourite bookstore, when i happened to see wht LotR movie Visual Companion for RotK. (further known as VC3)
i usually don't buy the visual companions before i've seen the movies, but this time, i figured that i wouldn't have money for a while (my car insurance is due next week) so i swooped in and grabbed a copy.

while flipping though it, i found many exciting a nd disturbing things.
good news first

Eowyn in dernhelm-ish armor

gondor looks lovely

White tree in the courtyard of the citadel looks nice enough

paths of the dead look amazing

i now strongly believe that merry will slay the witch king, and thinking of that, now im getting ideas that part of RotK will give info on past events (like, the first age) of ME

Shelob, Mount Doom, Battle of the Peleonnor Feilds etc are going to be kick arse

now for the bad news.

The evenstar(the jewel, not arwen) breaks somehow.

Tower guards look like thy've got great white ears, in stead of elegant seabird wings

Only three go on the paths of the dead

scouring and grey havens aren't mentioned anywhere.. and now that the evenstar breaks, who knows what arwen will give to frodo?

i nerly did the same thing.. couldn't say nothing, cause then i was sitting in a cafe.. and my reaction wouldn't have been fitting for a place i plan on being employed in sometime.. haha.

Well, the good news certainly outweighs the bad!
Of course, knowing about the Scouring of the Shire being out, for the longest time helps!

Only 3 on the Paths of the Dead has had lots of forewarning too. Evenstar,schmevenstar....

I coulnd't care less if the evenstar broke. But I do know what someone in particular will say "That was just another excuse for Jackson to put in some more action."

It is exactly. Why have it break? What purpose does it serve? It's just for some over the top emotional scene probably.

WHAT!!!!!!! the gondarians in all aspects look amazing, i looked at the companion and some weapons book and they look incredible, their spear head are very cool and there armour is awesome... ohhh well maybe its just me

I love the films, but I do hate many of the changes. This one (about the Evenstar) seems pretty pointless and ridiculous. Is an embodied Sauron (riding on a warg) going to rip it off Aragorn's neck and say "Ha! That's for your ancestor cutting off my fingers and stealing my Ring!"? Or will Jackson have Pippin accidentally break it? Who knows, though I shudder to think...

Ok people, let me ask you one question. Has the movie been released and I just haven't known about it? Exactly, it hasn't, so stop jumping to conclusions until you see it with your eyes...Yes some of the stuff is true, but a lot of things that are out there are nothing but fabrication...

Then again, that's just my opinion

Well I think I can go by jackson's passed history. let's see - the Flight to the Ford, the Wizards Duel, the exorcism of Theoden, Faramir dragging Frodo to Osgiliath. I think we can expect more of the same ridiculous changes in RotK.

I have posted the postive things. All you have to do is read them in the various threads. When I talk about the bad stuff - which in my opion outweighs the good - do I have to mention a good thing? I don't think so.

And why is such negative stuff said about jackson - because he's a hack. He took a book that could have been made into a GREAT movie and created an action flick. Lord of the Rings should have been so much more - not just a dumbed down typical hollywood action movie.

I think he did some great things--the fact that he pulled off the whole thing in the first place amazes me. He did get quite a bit "right;" but, he also did some things pretty terribly.

At the end of the day, I know I'm going to love ROTK, just like I did the others, despite some major flaws. I also know that when I want the *real* LOTR, all I have to do is open a book.

Actually I thought the wings on the helmets looked ok.

And if you look at the soundtrack info, the Havens are quite obviously in the film.
