Fellowship of the Ring, Chapter 7, in the House of Tom Bombadil
As to who/what he is that's a BIG question. Here is a piece that may help you decide on an answer http://tolkien.slimy.com/essays/Bombadil.html Last edited by Coney : 12-02-2002 at 04:02 PM. |

Tom Bombadil is the oldest and fatherless. I personally think he was a Maiar who got bored of Valinor and moved to the Mainland, met Goldberry, and spent his days pleasing Goldberry, singing, and dancing. Anything else?

Very Biased Alternate Script (but it's funny!):Click here! FREAK RAIN!!!!!!!! O.o Queen of prolonged unexplained absences and long, loooong car rides. Well, hullo everyone. As you can see, I don't hang out here muchly anymore. There's a good reason for this. Y'see, I've been hanging out at a different chatboard called Cardboardia. So far, I've been havin' a blast. Not that I don't love the TLA, but the magic of Entmoot is lost on me. So, as soon as TLA ends, so will my existance here, probably. Who knows though? I might stay. Highly unlikely however. This is a good bye in advance, then. Unless you want to join me and my group of friends at Cardboardia. Cheers! |

Here's how to use the search feature: after you click the 'search' button, under the words 'Search by Keyword' there is a gray box. In that box, type something related to whatever you're searching for. In this case "Bombadil". Click 'Perform Search' and you will be taken to a list of topics that contain the word(s) you searched for.
Using this handy search feature, I came up with this: Opinions/Theories About the Nature and State of Tom Bombadil BTW, welcome to the 'moot Orpheus. Be sure to introduce yourself at the top of the General Messages forum in the Newbie Welcome thread.
