Imaginary friends

I'm watching the Melbourne Comedy Festival right now, and one of the comedians was talking about her kid who had an imaginary friend...who they didn't like.

I never had one, but I was wondering if anyone here did? (I hope you liked your imaginary friends though. ) I think it's a bizarre thing, really.

Now come meet Erik over here, but he's a bit shy. He's waving hello at you now.

My cousin had an imaginary friend that he called Jesus. No joke! As for me, I had an imaginary friend named Eek. She had a sister named Dressesoda. I'm told that Dressesoda was invented shortly before Eek left, so maybe I was trying to find her a new playmate?

When I was, 4-6 I had 2 imaginary friends, Jackie Leann and Kiki. I used to watch The Puzzle Place (really a little kids show) and that's where Kiki came from. Somehow Kiki was absent more that Jackie Leann. When I did something wrong, I always blamed it on Jackie Leann. But Kiki was just sort of in the back of my head. She was never around very much.

Yeah I had lots of imaginary friends. Actually I have to admit I still do and I talk to them on a regular basis. Did I just admit that? Ooops! They come and go. Some I have lost forever and some always return to me. I like having imaginary friends. If you don't feel like associating with your real friends then imaginary ones are always there to make you happy - unless they're p***ed off with you and then they can be right b******s!

Back in the first grade, everyone would hold imaginary friend battles. Thinking back on it now, it must have been the least fun game I have ever played, because of course no one could agree on the abilities of the opposing imaginary friend. Those phonies made for some real tension.

And in the third grade we confused the hell out of our teacher by saying that she sat on Fred! We had different people explaining him as "the new kid" and "her imaginary friend." She took it so seriously. That was fun.

If I wasnt Hector Berlioz himself (or rather; myself), I would have a Berlioz imaghinary friend .
Never had one, though I did use to imagine the "evil ant man", which was whenever I saw an ant, I thought it would turn into a robber and mug me

i had 3, and they all had the weirdest names i've ever heard of (i swear i think of better names for my story characters... the first one was Hockin, and he came to me when i was feeling lonely at a family picnic at which i was the only little kid besides my creepy older cousins (who were both boys and thought themselves so cool ). the second one was Hockalla, who was Hockin's sister, and she came to me when i was thrown in my room for being bad (i don't remember why). and the third was Pee-Wee, who was my favorite cuz she was the most adventurous. they all went away in kindergarten when i was the only girl who would play batman with the boys cuz none of the other girls watched that sort of stuff () (i was always cat woman ) and they came back in first grade when i started my life-long destiny of being shunned by my classmates.
boy, a shrink would have a fun time with me, eh? lol does anyone have a clear picture of what their imaginary friends looked like? (i forget what mine looked like)

I had loads of imaginary friends when I was younger (and real ones too, before anyone gets clever ). I think it's a great thing - if adults could preserve the imaginations we had as children life would be more fun

Lalaith_Elf, I still talk to mine too

I was just talking about this a couple of weeks ago with a friend (and fellow writer) at work. She had an immaginary friend as a child and so did I, and we wondered if it contributed to our being aspiring writers in later life!

I actually had three immaginary friends at the same time. They were mice named Jeepie, Meepie and Creepie and they could go between the walls in the house and come out through their invisible mouse-holes in any room and at my house and even visit at my grandmother's! I was about three years old at the time and my oldest brother was just a baby. I had another immaginary friend also, but I don't remember her as well. My mother remembers when I got upset because she closed the door and shut her in the bedroom!

I think very immaginative, creative children have immaginary friends and I have a feeling these kids are usually only children or oldest children. (At least the ones I've talked to have been...)

I don't think I've ever had one, but I know my older sister (Mirel Stormrider) had a 'pet' puppy.

She used to amuse my parents greatly by say 'Heeeeere puppy puppy!' and beckoning with a finger. Then when her 'puppy' was in range she'd swing her arm and yell 'WHAP!'

I still feel sorry for that imaginary dog...

I do still talk to myself though. I'm my friend. Does that count?

Interesting thought. I'm an oldest child, and I had imaginary friends- my little brother didn't.

I always talk to myself, so I guess it does count! I've been talking to myself recently actually - my imaginary friends are on a holiday to Amsterdam! Nice of them to invite me!!!

maybe only chidlren and oldest chidlren are the most likely to make up imaginary friends... when you have an older sibling you have some really cool person to look up to and aspire to lol

My imaginary friends took the names and faces of characters from movies and video games.

It's ok, I still talk to them, too.
