Wow. An elvish name generator that actually goes by meaning. I'm impressed.

So... LittleCat's name means 'festival'. Odd. (I couldn't find any names with that meaning on the generators.)

LittleCat, would you mind typing your name in at http://www.parenthood.com/babynames.html and seeing if it comes up with anything? You don't have to tell me the name, just if it shows up. (I was trying to find a name with the meaning 'festival' there but nothing came up.)

But 'meren' means 'festival'!

It had a good Elvish alternative for /my/ name.

Weird.

I put in the same name for 'first and last' (at chriswetherell.com) and got two different generated names -- incidentally the second of which was 'almost' an exact name from the books, but which did not represent a 'translation' of the name typed in, in any case.

For (mostly Quenya) name suggestions with some scholarship behind them see Ales Bican's site 'Elm' ... and specifically his quenya lapseparma therein ~ linked at

Wow - very cool! I am Séreméla Felagund - when I typed in my real name. But when I tried to get a translation of Alqualaure, it didn't quite work. I chose the name for this forum from what I understood to be "Golden Swan"... but the translation I got from this generator for Golden Swan was "Eärwen Carnesîr"! LOL

I think it's fun anyhow - Thanks littleCat!
