Hobbit Questions

I am a media specialist for a middle school in North Carolina. We have a state wide contest called Battle of the Books. Approximately 20 books are selected and a team of children are questioned on their knowledge of the books. Those that win in the county go to district, the district winners compete in state finals.


I am looking for help in developing questions I can use with my children in preparing them for the "Battle". One of the books selected this year is the Hobbit. If anyone would like to assist me I would appreciate it.

However, Questions must be in this format ( I can change them if you can't utilize this format)

Here are two questions from the "Blue Sword" I have written 16 pages of questions for it.

In which book does the materials utilized in constuction of a residence foreshadow the owners lineage? (Colath's palace is almost entirely made of stone and his lineage is stone, discussed later.)

In which book is a character amazed at being able to drink orange juice every day?

It would be appreciated if you could tell me the page the question came from and if the book was a hardback or paperback.

West comes at the top of the map (I hope that's right, it could be east, but it isn't north, as in Thorin's map)?

Everything turns out much better in daylight (the trolls)?

That sounds cool, I can't think of any questions right now, but just wondering what part of the state you come from (coastle, peedmont or mountains) and what school you teach at. Just wondering because I allso live in NC, but I'm not planning to be in battle of the books so don't worry! I would, but I wont to be in the baton twirling club for club day, instead of Battle of the Books. Lets see, a question hmmmm...
