Thranduil who we alter find out is Legolas's father, hey... wait a minute, maybe that is the whole reason why Legolas is sent to Rivendell for the council of Elrond, because his father wanted to make up for his mistakes. or it could just be that he was a prince so it was his right...but thats not really important.

In the Hobbit we just knew him as 'the Elvenking' and never found out his name until LotR.

I agree, not having a better one to hate... I couldn't hate the bad creatures - because they didn't do anything that horrible. I don't understand what you have against the Spiders and the Goblins... and they're not a character anyway.

Yeah, he always irritated me, but then so did the "master" of Laketown...

My favourite bad guy, though, is Smaug....sorry for the OT...

I don't think he did but I'm not positive. I think he was just The Mast of Laketown like the Elvenking was just the Elvenking.

His name isn't mentioned, no. He didn't do much, unlike Thranduil...

Yes the master dude was pretty useless. But he was still not as unlikable as Thranduil.

[Unfortunately] I never got to liking the dwarves before some of them died. From the beginning they were rude, no explanation needed there. I didn't think any one of them really made up for that until the dying Thorin spoke to Bilbo. f

But they weren't my least favorite. I think that would have to be the goblins as a collective group.

yeah the Elven king seemed unecessairly nasty and shallow for one so wise. Beorn was my favorite character i think.

I didn't like Beorn so much. He wasn't the worst but he kind of sucked untill he piched up at the Battle that was cool.
