Driving Miss Daisy? What are you driving at?
Anyway, watch out everyone - it's open season on the freeway! (remember Steve Martin's LA Story?)

I know, it's straight out of a Wyatt Earp/Doc Holliday story, huh! Like something Big-Nose Kate would have handy...

Wow, my mom has one like that. She hates guns though, and thats the only one she will allow in her room. I am not so sure if it works though, well, at least now. I fired it once...

I LOVE that movie!!
Where some of my family lives, in Tennessee and Georgia, there are Civil War battlegrounds everywhere, and you can see all kinds of cannons.
Look at this beautiful old Civil War cannon from Knoxville Tennessee:

You wouldn't believe how many of these civil war battlefield sites are under the eye pf shopping mall and condo developers...

Love the cannon! Had the opportunity to work one in a re-enactment once. They used to be able to get 8 to 15 shots off in a minute in the war, but re-enactment is limited to 3 because of safety. If you don't swab the barrel good after a shot and you ram a powder charge in when an ember is still hot, you basicly turn the barrel into a large shrapnel bomb.

Thats why I belong to The Civil War Battlefields Preservation Trust.
So far we've saved a few acres here and there and even whole sites where they were of a "smaller" scale.

The Civil War Battlefields Preservation Tax Incentives Act of 1994 helps us to save our history.

http://www.civilwar.org/ is the site if you want to learn more.

Spock, do you ever get to dress up and do re-enactments of battles?

Nope, Ted Turner uses all those guys..for free and a bit of food. When you do that you give up cappucino and indoor plumbing and I'm a bit to civilized for that.

Its a Baretta which they gave him after taking the Walther from him. It was later replaced.

Is the Walther this long, elegant gun he has here? No, this can't be a Walther, is it?

indeed, me too. BTW, the Baretta was a .380 cal. weapon
It was in Dr. No In the begining of the movie, Bond had his Beretta taken away by M and was given the Walther PPL 7.65mm (32 caliber). However, if you look very closely, when Bond actually pulls it out in Jamaica, the gun is a Walther PP. The primary difference between the PP and the PPK is the barrel length (the PP's barrel is 5/8" longer). He now uses a Walther P99.

There we go! Man, I am suddenly inspired to go rent all the bond movies and have a marathon...only this time paying attention to the guns as well.
