Is this like the .25 you've got? This is a BEAUtiful little gun! I like it.

Or is it this one:

Beretta is by far and away my favourite gunmaker. I've always preferred the Beretta 9MM like the nickel-plate one I used to have; what a gorgeous sure-shot that was!

Actually, man, i would much rather be rolling with a 45 than a 9mil, because a nine millimeter just doesnt pack the punch that a 45 does (and a 5.56 doesnt have the stopping power of a .308, such as the M1 grande)

Anyway, I am more partial to a .44 anyway. I wish I could bring my Ruger .44 Magnum Super Blackhawk to Iraq. I would feel better about myself at least.

If you're military, then you have to just use military-issue weapons, right? They won't allow you to bring your own legal, licensed personal weapon? I'm just curious.

Yeah, so far as I am aware we cannot bring our own weapons (I heard off hand rumors about being allowed to, yada yada yada, but I doubt we can). It would be nice though. A .44 would back up an M4 nicely. Plus, mine is stainless steel, so its very tactical (sarcasm )

I am of the opinion that a soldier can never have too many weapons of his own with which to back himself up, I mean how can the military not understand THAT? Surely they should let you bring an extra weapon; what can it hurt but the enemy?

Exactly, but hey, I dont write policy .

I think its more of a political thing. If this was something more like total war, I dont think anyone would give a ****, but seeing as its more of a "peacekeeping" thing (or something) now, I dont think that they really want too many weapons in country that they cant keep track of. I really would have liked to have one during my first tour there though.

Oh, Beor, that's so f**ed, because it IS war -war's war, and Iraq's still no picnic at all, at ALL, man oh man I have SO little patience with this country's politicians. GRRRRrrr... It IS war, dammit! You should be able to carry any weapon you'd like, esPECially when it's perfectly legal, belongs to you, and doesn't cost the friggin' gov't a penny! I don't understand military politics, man, I just don't.

Shah - Honolulu is that dangerous? I've only been to Maui and Kauai, never the big Honolulu. Well, I'm glad you've got such a cool brother for real! That's a sweet little weapon.

Yeah...It depends where you go, there are some unfavorable areas. That and the Yakuza are also there...Yeah, my eldest and only remaining brother....I hadnt talked to him in a while. we just repaired our relationship.

An yes, it is a sweet little thing. Fires right, straight and true. And the middle east is no picnic in general, war or not. Only time I could happily not carry a piece or two was when I was back home in Iran. I went through Egypt, Morroco, and Turkey as well...Damn, I wouldnt go there without something on me!

I had a boyfriend once from Israel, he was an I.D.F. lieutenant who bore an enormous grudge against all Israel's standard enemies - anyway, the way he described it, Egypt is especially dangerous, but apparantly in that part of the middle east pretty much everyone's packing, grandma down to grade school, and it's like the norm. But those countries have been beset by wars and violence since time immemorial; it just makes sense that one would need a gun around there, you know? I had a friend in college who is Persian, and she insists its "Persian," she's adamant about it - anyway, when she was like 5 years old walking home from school with her little best friend her friend was killed right there, right in front of her! Negin studies law at Harvard now, and avoids Iran but yearns at the same time to be able to return to her homeland as her own woman. Why am I tangent-ing here? Ah, well. My point is, the middle east, north africa, turkey- one definitely needs a gun to keep apace and self-protect, without a doubt, no matter what country one is from or loves.

Oh - I don't have a gun anymore, because hot-heads like me don't need to be running around with semi-aut weaponry! I had a nickel-plate 9MM Beretta, my favourite gun which my dad gave me but took back - I mentioned all this a few posts back, anyway that was a f**king killer gun, pun intended!! It had a gold-plated trigger, too. But what a smooth-shooting beauty, man. Mmmmm.

Whoa! What part of Iran is she from and how did the kid get killed?? And persia and persian is this name the brits put up on that old empire. but I can see why she uses that name, seeing as it distances her from that nasty "islamic republic" bull ****. The Land of Pars...whatever...I am more than proud of my heritage for the most part. And yes, egypt is particualarly dangerous, i have some cool stories from there, but that can wait. But still, are you saying that you are without a piece, no nothin?

Do you have to keep sayin' it, like that!? No, I don't need one anymore anyway since I gave up bangin' and I'm living so safe now, I mean safer and calmer than I ever have to this point in my life. All my friends and homies and acquaintances, they're all packing at all times so if I ever want to hang out and visit around that atmosphere, I never have to worry because I've always got like 2-5 hard-core friends backing me up, at all times. I DO love my old friends, even if they ARE kinda rough - I LOVE my people, SO damn much; that's mi famiglia, for REAL. anyway, again I digress...

Oh - I forget now, what city she's from, I'll have to think back...

In defense of 9mm, using ammuniton like the Federal subsonic for personal defense is most effective. Federal 130 gr. Hydra Shock, I beleive is the brand name. Also any decent JHP gives more than enough punch. Now we're not talking warfare we're talking home defense, self defense.

My condolences on the loss of your brother, Shah. That is incredibly sad. I lost my other best friend last summer, he got shot down as well. I will ALWAYS, always miss him; the missing of him never goes away.

Yes, in your opinion. I prefer the Springfield.

I disagree. A .45 ACP will stop better than a 9mm

Yes, for an average person. .[/quote]From my personal experience, it is easy to compensate for the up & right.

Oh, and if its home defense we're talking, like I said, a shotgun Remington 870 Express to be exact... speaks the best.

Basicly you can argue the pros and cons of every gun, and it really boils down to ones preference.
