question on Minas Tirith

Just a quick question
I'm reading in th Sil the chapter Beleriand and its Realms and it states:

Finrod held the Pass of Sirion, and upon the isle of Tol Sirion in the midst of the river, he bulit a mighty watch-tower, Minas Tirith

This is differnt from the Minas Tirith of Gondor, right? Was it named after this watch tower in Beleriand?

yeah becasue the one in Gondor started off with a different name

actually it's likely Minas Tirith in Gondor was renamed deliberately after the first, Gondor liked to stress its link to the Edain after all.

Minas Tirith is Sindarin for tower of guard. Minas Anor was renamed Minas Tirith in 2002 of the Third Age after the fall of Minas Ithil.
