We created our own Continent called - "The Great Continent of Entmoot" which you can join us in. You will need the password - "swedenusa" to move into the continent.

here are some things from the FAQ to give you an idea of the game...

So what is this?
Jennifer Government: NationStates is a nation simulation game. You create your own country, fashioned after your own ideals, and care for its people. Either that or you deliberately torture them. It's really up to you.

Is it really free?
Yes, it really is.

Is it a serious political thing, or just for fun?
Well, you can play it either way. NationStates does have humorous bent, but that's just because international politics is so inherently funny.

How do I play?
Click on the Create a Nation link and follow it from there. You'll be asked to choose a name for your nation, a motto, a national animal, and a currency. Then you answer a short questionnaire about your politics. This will determine what sort of nation you end up with: authoritarian or permissive... left-wing or right-wing... compassionate or psychotic... you get the idea.

Once a day, you'll be faced with an issue, and need to make a decision as to what to do about it. This determines how your nation evolves.

Since there is so much political discussion on Entmoot - I thought this might be interesting for us to do. It isn't very involved - so it should only take a little bit to manage your country.

Yes - and I got the country you wanted. I just answered my questions honestly. Although some of the things are extreme - my country seems very good to me.

The Republic of Great New Jersey is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Commerce, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Retail industries.

Crime is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Great New Jersey's national animal is the peregrin falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

The Great Continent of Entmoot

World Factbook Entry: The Continent of Entmoot was first settled by the people of the Republic of Great New Jersey on January 27, 2004, founded by Robert the JerseyDevil. There soon followed an upsurge in the development of other countries, the first of which was The Free Land of North Koster. North Koster was founded by Jonathan the Great on January 27, 2004, moments after the founding of The Republic of Great New Jersey. These two great friends have joined to create a great continent with other mooters.

After you create your country - you need to click "move to new region" - then you can enter "The Great Continent of Entmoot" and join the continent.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- is mainly concerned with Social Welfare, although Religion & Spirituality and Healthcare are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 43%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Automobile Manufacturing.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. Arienissima's national animal is the beagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the fire.

You should see - "Pacific" - under your country name on the left hand side. Click on that to move to the Entmoot Continent.

Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 5 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The enormous government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 32%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Gambling.

Crime is moderate. Ken Watanabe's national animal is the balrog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the gold coins.

I had a slow time where it was timing out a bit - but then it would be fine.

Phew! Got there in the end. Apologies about the unoriginal country name, but I kept getting names that had already been taken (even some really way out imaginary names) so I got bored and plumbed for the obvious choice.

Will be interested to see how this develops.

yeah - I just wanted The Republic of New Jersey - but it said that was taken, so I added great in front of it. Your's is about as imaginative as mine. But would anyone expect anything less. Jonathan's is named after the island where his cabin is.

Will be interested to see how this develops.

I think it will be. I'm wondering how many people have joined the UN.

BTW - I think Jonathan will be surprised at how quickly this took off.

I haven't joined the UN yet - not sure if I will. I want to see how it works and where the political views of the UN lie before making a decision. I don't want outsiders making decisions for my soveriegn country.

Hopefully the countries that make up The Great Continent of Entmoot can be more cooperative than the ones that make up the EU.
