Many years have passed since the War of the Ring. Gondor is still in a state of peace with Aragorn still on the throne. Eomer has passed on and his son Eorlas has ruled over Rohan in relative peace. The Shirelings have coexisted with the world of Men quite well. The Dwarves have remained within their mountain halls and have not bothered with the worries of the outside world. However, despite the peacefulness, a great shadow has taken form in the far southeast.
