THANK you, Spock!! Yes, what Spock says here - please, be distinct with your questions, and then you may find you receive distinct answers.

Curubethion's question was clear... he just used a 'pun' for a hint, which seems acceptable to me.

Words have meanings. Lotesse gets it, I get it, and others get it. He said "hints involving a pun" so we have to go on the assumption that he meant a pun! Please let's not have a debate about meaning.

Please use terminology that originates from the book; i.e., the wording from the text itself. Then perhaps we'll be better equipped to provide you with an answer. I never DID know what "removed" meant, in reference to cousins and relations...

Technically, I still disagree with you and Spock on this. The appendices contain charts and other graphic information besides just written narrative text. I think it's OK to open this game to those other parts.

NO PUNS

Mr. Praline : But you told me it was Ipswitch!

Owner : (a bit meekly) It was a pun.

It's not a palindrome! The palindrome of "Bolton" would be "Notlob!" It don't work!!

But Curubethion's "pun" was a hint, not the question itself.

A hint is not even a requisite part of the question-answer format - it's a bonus.

So what's the big deal if someone tells you that their hint is a pun?

Calm down...

NO it wasn't. It involved a pun. NO PUNS. Questions straight forward and from the book. No inuendos, no puns, no vague references.

I hate to a picky ass, but I believe a palindrome is read the same way forewards as it is backwards. bolton vs notlob is simply bolton backwards. A palindrome would a word or numeric that is read the same foreward as it is backward. For instance, otto is a palindrome as it is the same word backward as it is foreward; the base pairs adenine guanine guanine adenine or agga is also a palindrome, as is ABBA, the swedish supergroup. I think Ill stop now.( incidentally, I like the abba song "SOS" which is , you guessed it, yet anothr palindrome)

Gandalf You need to improve reading comprehension on this one.

This was a direct quote from MONTY PYTHON. If you read the post you'll see that it is said "it doesn't work".
