Lots of folks - but from the appendices, I'll guess it says he's descended from Valandil, the first Lord of Andune - who was the son of Silmarion, daughter and eldest child of King Tar-(Elendil?) - one of those early kings anyway.

In using the "appendix" which is what is used for this thread, I've a different answer, also in the book. I'm open to interpretation if you direct me to the exact spot it appears in your book....perhaps versions are different.

Ahh, that's your problem. We're using ONLY the appendix for the Trilogy. The Silmarillion is a totally separate Topic (number four on the Main Page).

Sorry.

Actually Val, you got it but you just didn't distill the information above and arrive at the answer.

According to the appendix A, in my series: "Tar-Elendil, the fourth king, was succeeded by his son Tar-Meneldur, though his daughter Silmarien was the elder. It was, however, from Silmarien that Elendil was descended."

You go Val.

Well... I couldn't find Ben Hur in the appendices, but as for THIS answer, the rest of their people also rode in horse-drawn wheeled apparatuses (or would that be apparati?).

Spock thinks I should post a new question since nobody has answered this. What - is it too hard? I thought for sure the hint I gave would have tipped some of you off.

I suspect it's more likely that the thread has just dropped out of sight, and 'out of mind'.

Anyone care to give this one a try?

I'd have to guess Haradrim.

No - not the Haradrim. There was a particular name associated with these people from when they invaded (wherever they invaded, that is).

Irrelevant. I had a post on the board and had not yielded the floor. Besides that, I had given a hint just 13 hours before you posted your question.

The question from Post #90 still stands.

TD - not the Numenoreans

Spock - I'm sure 17 days has been done before - I just don't think so many people have been watching the thread lately. I use a "3-day rule" - but that's not for a question going unanswered. It's either for acknowledgement of an answer attempt, or asking a new question after a correct answer has been given. Apology accepted.

It just isn't condusive to smooth operation to let it go that long, IMO.
