Shiver me timbers! We missed it again, argh! This be a site I stumbled across one year ago, and it gave me a laugh. I'll gi'e ye the rele'ant backstory:

On one real beaut of a morn, two old landlubbers were prancin' about the raquetball courts, and them and their wretched bodies was achin', the scurvy dogs. Soon they began squawkin' "Aarg" and "G'arr" with e'ry bound they took. They gave themselves a laugh, they did, and so set aside that day, the 19th of September, as a holiday to mark the occasion. Their mates joined in, and soon they 'ad a crew o' plenty o' seamen followin' their fine tradition, including the popular Dave Barry. Today, any self-respectin' sailor is sure to speak with a terrifyin' air, walk with a swayin' swagger, and buckle with the finest swashes once a year.
