1000 posts mod?

I've heard that you get offered a position as a mod if you get 1000 posts.
Is this true?
What does a modarater do?
Is there any interface change?
And what is the difrence between a admin and a mod?

No, that is not true. Mods are chosen by the existing moderator team as we need them. They are usually chosen based on their record at Entmoot, their knowledge of Tolkien, and how responsible they have been as a poster. Their sellection is also based on their time here.

There are three levels of moderators. Forum moderators- These are moderators who only oversee a particular forum. Super-moderators-These are moderators that moderate board wide in all forums. Administrators- These are moderators that moderate in all forums and deal with the administrative aspects of the board. There are different control panels, one for super-mods, and one for admins. There are certian things that only admins can do, such as title changes.

Those are the differences.

On entmoot, for example:
On the post area there are two buttons labled "Close Current Tag" and "Close All Tags". They have Xs on them, do moderators have these buttons enabled?
