So in that respect Anakin never loses force power. Still, I'd imagine no matter what the case the loss of limbs would have some effect on how well the person uses the Force.

For instance it always seems that Jedis have to use their hands to help them manipulate objects (push, lift, mind trick) sort of as a guiding mechanism. If Anakin didn't receive prosthetics would he have been able to use the Force? Even more interestingly I wonder if he was capable of Force lightning after he became Darth Vader. It seems to be a very powerful move, only countered effectively by Yoda and nullified by Obi-wan's concentration on focusing the arches towards his lightsaber. Anakin was certainly powerful enough, but was it that he lacked the organic focal points needed for such a feat?

In any case, we shall see what episode 3 shows us.

It would make a lot of sense, considering that the Force largely has to do with the mind.

Midichlorians are just something they invented for the prequels...they could have explained what they are a little better.

OK GUYS! - I think Midichlorian is how you spell it. Either way, phenetically is fine - midi-chlorian, midiclorian, mediclorian. Whatever, as long as it sounds right.

What is with the metachlorients???? Whats a metachlorient?

I tend to agree. George Lucas could have done better, or have left the Force alone and kept a bit more mysticism around its presence. It just creates more potential loopholes for him to explain it in the way that he did.

Do you mean Phonetically?

Maybe your Midichlorian count is determined by the number of Midichlorians in the germ cells from your parents?

Phonetically means

1. Of or relating to phonetics.

2. Representing the sounds of speech with a set of distinct symbols, each designating a single sound: phonetic spelling.

3. Of, relating to, or being features of pronunciation that are not phonemically distinctive in a language, as aspiration of consonants or vowel length in English.

Your midichlorian count is meaningless if you're not well-trained in the Force - and that doesn't just mean abilities, it also means discipline.

Meaningless?

Gui Gonn mentions something about Anakin having Jedi-like reflexes and that is why he is the only human on the pod races.

So, I don't think it is meaningless. Having a a high midichlorian count seems to give one great natural aptitude.

I personally like the idea of midichlorians. The more demystification the better.

The Force is still a spiritual entity
Is there anything in the movies that explicit states that the force is spiritual as opposed to being a energy force?

It's just that the LOTR movies kinda dulled my interest in Tolkien and I spoke to an old friend about SW and that has sparked a little interest in the Myth again.
