No, not offically, as in I am not privy to any crazy information about it, but IMHO, I think it may be a question of balance between good and evil. there can only be so much energy in the universe, and only so much of it can maifiest itself as the force, so I would imagine that if some of that is being taken and used for the dark side, the good side may lose some power, and the more the balance shifts, the more it wans, and the Jedi lose power. Something like that, but better articulated, is what I meant to say.

That is an interesting idea about there being only a limited amount of force that is available for use. Sounds plausible.

My first thought: they're just getting old.

I'd never heard of that before--do they definately lose power or just stop using it?
I'd expect them to just stop, anyway, to keep that balance that Beor and Obi Wan mentioned, and to let the new Jedi generation have more freedom in it. Maybe then they become "out of practice," so to speak.

Bombadillo,

I think it was in episode II Mace and Yoda are speaking to each other.

The statement was something like " Should we tell the council about are inability use the force.
