V for Vendetta

Has anyone seen the previews for this? What do you think? Will it be a good movie or will it flop?

haha, basically no one does.
Quote:
Vendetta is “set against the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain. [It] tells the story of a mild-mannered young woman named Evey (Portman) who is rescued from a life-and-death situation by a masked vigilante (Weaving) known only as ‘V.’ Incomparably charismatic and ferociously skilled in the art of combat and deception, V ignites a revolution when he detonates two London landmarks and takes over the government-controlled airwaves, urging his fellow citizens to rise up against tyranny and oppression. As Evey uncovers the truth about V’s mysterious background, she also discovers the truth about herself—and emerges as his unlikely ally in the culmination of his plot to bring freedom and justice back to a society fraught with cruelty and corruption.”
Hope that tells you something, lol.

This is the movie that Natalie Portman shaved her head for.

Thanks for the info HOBBIT. It does help out. From the previews, it seems like it will be good. We'll see huh?

Some new news on it:

Plot Rundown:
Quote:
Based on the Alan Moore comic of the same name, V for Vendetta is the story of a shadowy freedom fighter, set in an alternate reality. In V's world, Germany won a World War, leaving Great Britain a fascist, totalitarian regime. V conducts guerilla warfare against the government, and convinces a young girl to join him.
Its release date of November 4th, 2005 has been pushed back to March 17th, 2006

That bites. I was looking forward to seeing it. Guess I'll have to wait till march. I'll keep in mind the graphic novel and try to read it before I see the movie.

Saw it last week. I thought it was a rather good film, I really liked Hugo Weaving's portrayal of V.

Didn't the guy who created V drop out of the project because he didn't like the way the Wachowski bros. were filming it? He even made 'em take his name off the credits, right?

I haven't seen it yet, btw.

My friend saw it...he said it's awesome. He said it even topped LOTR for his favorite movie. Poor Hugo Weaving...he's got a sort of back-and-forth situation with playing good guys and bad guys...
First the Matrix-Agent Smith. Then LOTR-Elrond. Then the Matrix conclusion-Agent Smith. Then Vendetta-V.

I saw it yesterday night. It was the best film I have seen in quite a time, I think it is on my top 5 movies I've seen. It reminded me of Sin City, the feel of the movie is the same, though the plot and other things is quite different. The part hard action movie, part philosopcal view was very good. And the scene when Portman is captured was very strong.
Go see it!

I saw it yesterday. I liked it. very powerful imo. I now have a new favorite quote: "people should not be afraid of their government. The government should be afraid of their people"

Alan Moore roxxors - read V for Vendetta, oh, and Watchmen. They're both change-your-life kinda books. Like Dune. Have you read Dune?

I saw it. I thought it was a really, really good movie. I mean, there are not many that I would say this about, but I thought a movie of actual high quality, and artistically beautiful. Great movie, over all, though it had its down sides. I hear its v. close to the comic book, but being not a great comic book reader, I haven't read it...I hope to do so, though. I hear Watchmen is really good also, BoP.
